Okay, I'll start.
I'm Michael. I am originally from Atlanta Georgia. I got my start in visual arts at Warren Wilson College in Asheville North Carolina where I studied ceramics. Prior to that I did a lot of performing arts, dance, vocal music, figure skating, etc. I took my time getting my undergrad degree, and went to Haywood Community College for ceramics as well. I owned my own production pottery studio and gallery for a while, then gave up the tedium of mugs and bowls to finish my bachelors. I went to graduate school at East Carolina University in Greenville North Carolina where I gave up the tedium of ceramics almost entirely, and substituted it with the invigorating glorious radiance of sculpture. I have spent the past several years teaching sculpture and ceramics at the Art Association of Jackson Hole in Wyoming, but this year I returned to the east coast to teach at Florida Community College at Jacksonville. I enjoy long walks on the beach, soft classical guitar music, candlelit dinners, and pouring molten iron.

Hello,
My name is Julia, and being a big fan of shameless self-promotion, I'd like to start off saying anyone with the ability should go see my current show at Whitespace in Atlanta, GA, 814 Edgewood Ave., running through June 2nd.
I'm originally from New Orleans, and moved to Atlanta after graduating with a BFA from Tulane. I currently work at the Savannah College of Art and Design, and particularly enjoy the company of dogs and monsters.
I'm quite excited about this project, and look forward to working with all of you!

Nice to meet you, if I haven't before...
If you see him (assuming you know him), tell Allen to go ahead and sign up too.

hi,
My name is Jack. if I haven't met you I can assure you the pleasure is intirely mine. I live in the texas panhandle; tornado alley, we call it, on a cattle ranch where I do lots of manual labor. Some I call art and some would violate the strictures of this forum as laid down by he who must be obeyed, were I to name them what I usually do.
I look forward to the project and hope to met a whole new universe of people.

Hello, My name is Renee Parnell and I am from the great state of Louisiana (said with "Miss America contestant" enthusiasm). I got my BFA from the University of Louisiana at Monroe, in Graphic Design, but found that my passion in life is sculpture! I have recently decided to give up my job in corp. america, so that I can focus on my 2 loves, my children, and my art. I work predominately in wood, but am planning to explore metal very soon. I finally got a welder...YEAH!
I am so excited about this project! I think this is going to be great fun, and I look forward to get to know each of you!

I'm Bill. Originally from NJ......but have been "southern grown" in Central FL. I live and work in Central Florida. I own/operate Custom Design Metal Arts in Ocala, FL. I've been doing decorative metalwork for over 20 years. Starting this metal smithing journey in 1984 as a jeweler and caster. Producing one of a kind pieces using the lost wax casting process.
With a jewelers eye for detail, and finding myself drawn to other metals, in 1989. I began my apprenticeship, with an internationally renown ornamental metalsmithing firm that specialized in architectural metalwork, of the highest quality. I was introduced to larger scale ornamental metalwork. Then the seed was planted that motivated me to learn the forge and fabrication approach to metalwork.
That experience has allowed me to broaden my artistic horizons to include not only fine jewelry in gold and sterling but also what I like to refer to as "house jewelry". That being Entry gates, railings, doors, lighting, furniture, sculpture and much more of mixed metals. Including aluminum, steels (stainless -mild & damascus), brass, bronze and copper. Of late, the majority of my work has fallen in the architectural ornamental metal category. I specialize in hand forged or custom cast, one of a kind and limited edition designs.
I'm really looking forward to this.......should be a blast.
