GROUP 15 FACILITATOR Jack Gron, Corpus Christi Texas "My work involves the use of metals as primary medium. Focus of my expression shifts from formalist to funky, with the occasional shot of political or social satire. This approach keeps me excited, engaqed, evolving and especially out of the office." |

Ken Malson, Hunt Texas Art is the vehicle through which I develop understanding of the world around me. It's my opportunity to observe, learn and express my feelings about the environment and mindscape in which we live. When I begin a work of art it's with questions, not answers that I have in mind. With a strong since of intuition for combining materials and a passion for art history I approach my work as an experiment not unlike how a scientist would work. The creative process of combining different materials to manifest ideas or develop imagery that communicates story lines intrigues me. I work hard at making art that goes beyond momentarily pleasing the eye. I want to make art that reaches the intellect and emotions, which brings far greater satisfaction. The ultimate goal is to create art that gives the observer and myself a glance at the world anew.

Geoffrey Broderick, Abilene Texas Fruit such as cherries, figs and apples have been a source of subject matter for me because of these reasons: The forms are simple, yet pleasing to the eye. They can be arranged as singles or multiples with equal potential for various suggestive contexts. They symbolize for me the multiple levels of function and beauty in God's creative endeavors. God created fruit as one of the necessities in our diet, and gave it beauty through sight, smell, and taste. He gave us sensitivity to these things so that we would be attracted, eat and continually come back for more. I am inspired by all of this and am compelled to create these sculptures out of appreciation for the design of fruit, and to satisfy my obsession to communicate my feelings about these symbols of the Great Master's design of life. The senses are what I am placing my attention toward as I capture delicate movement, extreme spotlighted emphasis, and even temperature.
